Robert "Bob" Edward Adel, Sr., of Fort Collins, CO, passed away Tuesday, October 31. He was born January 29, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York to William Edward and Anna Marie (Strohmeir) Adel.

Bob graduated from Colby College in Waterville, Maine in 1956 with a Science Degree. He married Dorothy "Dodi" Louise Aikman on September 8, 1956. He became a father in 1957 with the birth of his son, Robert Jr., and again in 1960 with the birth of his daughter, Wendy. In 1958, Bob graduated from the University of New Hampshire with his Masters Degree in Chemistry Research, and worked for the Eastman Kodak Company for 33 years. With Kodak, he worked in Rochester, NY, Guadalajara, Mexico, and Windsor, CO. He settled in Fort Collins in 1975 with his family.

After retiring in 1990, Bob and Dodi traveled the world, pursuing their passion for birding. Together, they visited all seven continents on more than 30 birding trips, logging 713 different species of North American birds, and more than 2,400 bird species worldwide in their travels.

Bob leaves behind his wife of 61 years, his son Robert Adel, Jr., and his daughter Wendy Reed (Robert). In addition to his two children, Bobs family legacy includes 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

His family would like to thank the numerous care-givers who helped Bob in his last years.

Known for his warm smile, sense of humor, and friendly nature, Bob will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Per his wishes, there will be no funeral service. His remains will be cremated and spread. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program.
