Centerville - Mrs. Mary Ann Hoover, at 86, died at her home at 528 West Maple street at 3:30 PM Tuesday after two weeks illness with influenza.
She had joined the Christian church at Numa as a girl, and held membership in the Cincinnati Christian church at the time of her death.
She was born at Hagerstown, Indiana, February 26, 1850, the daughter of Jonathan and Margaret Lantz, and came to Iowa with her parents when she was two years old. The family settled on a farm in Bellair Township.
She was married in 1870 to John M Hoover and was the mother of 11 children. Her husband, one son, and two grandchildren, besides her parents and all her brothers and sisters, preceded her in death.
She was the last of a family of 13 children. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Herbert S Streepy of Mystic, Mrs. Earl H. Hawkins of Little Sauk, Minn., Mrs. William C. Harris of Denver, Colo., and Carrie and Josie at home; five sons, Roy L Hoover of Loveland, Colo., Charles M Hoover of Centerville, WF Hoover of Logan, Glenn M Hoover, of Des Moines and CC Hoover of Henry, SD., 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
The body is at Miller funeral home waiting funeral arrangements.
