Shirley Ann (Minnick) Adams, 84, of Navarre, Florida, passed away at home on Thursday, November 2, 2017, in the company of her children.

Shirley was born at home in Chrisman, Illinois, on December 24, 1932.

She grew up in Chrisman, graduating from Chrisman High School.

After graduation she married her lifetime sweetheart, Robert N. Adams.

Shirley’s lifelong dream was to be a wife and mother which came true with her marriage to Robert and birth of four children.

She accompanied Robert around the world as an Air Force wife keeping the home fires burning while he completed his missions and assignments as an Air Force pilot.

She had a smile that lit up any room.

She was happy, optimistic, and always believed the best in people.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Lt. Col. (Ret) Robert N. Adams; her parents, James McClellan Minnick and Hilda Elvia Ress Minnick; her siblings, Martha Minnick and Bonnie Jenness; and her daughter, Janice Marie Adams.

Shirley is survived by her children, Charlie (Karen) Adams of Lubbock, Texas, Jim (Sylvia Ounpuu) of Bolton, Connecticut, and Kathy (Doug) Kubitz of Niceville, Florida; six grand-children; three great-grandchildren; and her faithful dog, Rusty.

A private graveside service will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery on Monday, November 13, 2017.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Lewis Funeral Home, Navarre Chapel.

A Celebration of Life for Shirley will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017. Location and time are to be determined.

The family wishes a very special thank you to the staff at Emerald Coast Hospice for the care they provided, and especially to Tiffany, her nurse, and Sandy, her aide.
