Barbara June Acord resided
at 8 Hill Road (PO Box 197)
Berlin Heights, for 38 years.
Barbara was born June 19,1933,
in Lando Mines, W. Va., and
p a ssed away due to
com p lica tion s from intestinal
in fe c tio n s on the morning o f
Sept. 3 0 ,2 0 0 5 , at 72 beautiful
years of age.
Barbara was p r ec ed ed in
death by her parents, Tom
Acord and Ruby (Canterbury)
Acord, and brothers, Dewey Lee
Acord and Curtis Acord.
Barbara is survived by her
son, “Kim" Leonard Shortt at
their h om e in Berlin Heights;
two sisters, Florine Belcher o f
Tampa, Fla., and Shelby Jean
Hendrickson o f Norwalk; and
two brothers, Charles Ray
Acord o f Avon Lake, Ohio, and
Emmet Acord of Durand, Mich.;
as well as n um e rou s aunts,
u n c le s, n ie c e s , n ep h ew s and
cousins.
Barbara was a hair stylist for
over 30 y ears, and ow ned and
operated His & Hers Hair
Styling Salon in Berlin Heights
for the past 29 years.
Barbara was a m ember o f AA
for 28 years and a ctiv e in
m e e tin g s for 20 years in the
Vermilion, Lorain, Norwalk and
Sandusky areas. Barbara was
very spiritual and b elieved that
all o f life was precious and, that
with faith and a strong belief in
God, you cou ld w ea the r all o f
life’s stormy times.
Barbara enjoyed traveling,
reading and learn ing, music
and sharing sto r ie s and time
with family and friends.
Barbara was a generous, loving
and caring mother, daughter,
siste r and friend and will be
missed and remembered by all
that knew and loved her.
A memorial se rv ic e for
Barbara will be held at 2 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 8 in Hinman-
Tanner Funeral Home, South
Street (Ohio 61), Berlin Heights,
followed by a time of fellowship
and sharing at a local hall.
Instead o f flowers, Barbara
would like a donation to be sent
to: Cancer Services o f Erie
County, 912 Perry St., Suite,
N - l , Sandusky, OH 44870 so
that the Cancer S ervice s can
continue to provide the support
and a ssista n c e that Barbara
received from them w hen she
went through cancer treatment
in 2000.
