Spencer Lee Alexander of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away May 5, 2017, in Tokyo, Japan.

He was born Feb. 6, 1922, to Edna and Earl Alexander of Piper City. He was a 1940 graduate of Piper City High School. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and a retired major with the U.S. Army. He was very proud of his service to his country and was a member of the OSS during World War II. His military service and his later career took him around the world.

Spencer was preceded in death by his two brothers, Clarence and John Alexander.

He is survived by his wife, Noriko; his four children, Spencer, Robert, Mia and Hiroto; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Inurnment will be in Brenton Cemetery, Piper City, and in Arlington National Cemetery or the National Military Cemetery of the Pacific at a later date.
