Mrs. Virginia Green Baird Krout, age 80, passed away January 20, 2006. Born a fourth generation Atlantan on December 09, 1925, she attended Atlanta Girls High School, received a BA from Wesleyan College graduating "Cum Laude", an ED.S. from the University of Georgia in Speech and Language and a Masters Degree in Speech Pathology from Emory University. She devoted 45 years as a guiding light to the Atlanta City School System instructing in group and individual therapy as an Itinerant Speech-Language Pathologist and testing a majority of Atlanta's school children from age 5 to 18 in every social-economic level with speech-language and hearing impairment. She lectured in Speech Pathology at Emory University and the University of Georgia. Virginia was a past president of the Georgia Federation Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), The Atlanta Area CEC, and The Georgian Speech-Language-Hearing Association and was a Legislative Counselor for Georgia in the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She held Georgia License No. 3 for the Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology. She was a past member of Morningside Presbyterian Church and a current longstanding member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church. Very much devoted to her family, she is preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Joseph A. Green and daughter, Regina Baird Counts. She is survived by her loving husband, Donahue Krout, son Brentson Carl Baird and wife Margaret, nephews Samuel Green III and wife Sharon, Dr. Michael Green and wife Sharon, Richard A. Green, John Patrick Green and wife Melissa, nieces Dr. Susan Green Mazo and husband Dr. Rick Mazo, Linda Green Sikes and husband Dr. James Sikes, Patricia Green Johnson and husband Michael, grandchildren Michelle and Aaron Baird, and sister-in-law Patricia Green. Virginia's exceptional auburn haired beauty was exceeded only by the radiance of her loving gracious personality and devotion to God, family and fellow mankind. Following a private graveside service Saturday morning, a memorial service will be held at Peachtree Presbyterian Church at 1:00 p.m., January 28, 2006. The family will receive friends at the home in Sandy Springs following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Peachtree Presbyterian Church -Martha Wilson Foundation. Arrangments by H.M.
