DOW received during the Japanese attack of December 7th, 1941.

US Army Air Corps, 72nd Pursuit Squadron, Wheeler Field. Ten others of the 72nd also lost their lives.

Purple Heart.

The WV death record issued states Pearl Harbor but that is not exactly correct, Wheeler Field is more precise; other sources state KIA but that could not be exactly correct because his death date is given being the 8th not the 7th; so either the KIA designation is incorrect or the 8th is incorrect which is what is given on his WV record and on his headstone plus other sources.

One source states he is buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (HI) but there is documentation that he was returned to WV in 1947 for burial - buried on 11/5/1947 and THERE IS a military issued headstone (no private headstone) here for him in Greenwood.

Even with other back-up sources, nothing is on his headstone referring to Pearl Harbor/Wheeler Field or the Purple Heart.

He is the son of Robert J. Hull and Emma (Leonard) Hull, both of Wheeling.

He had not married.
