John and Catherine Dreith Freehling were "Volga Germans" (ethnic Germans who lived along the Volga River in Russia). They emigrated/immigrated in 1912, arriving in the port of Galveston, Texas.

Their identifiable children were: John Freehling Jr. born 1914, Mary Freehling born 1918, and Victor Freehling born 1929.

1940 (*federal census), age 46, living in Denver, Colorado with her husband (John) and her youngest child (Victor, age 10), husband employed as a car repairer.

John and Catherine are buried adjacent to a daughter-in-law (Amelia Freehling).

Catherine was one of those amazingly long-lived persons making it past the century mark, dying about a month after her 100th birthday.
