Obituary from the Clarksburg, WV Exponent Telegram Monday November 13, 2017: Bonnie Hitt passed away November 11, 2017, after living for 50 years in her home in Buckhannon, WV, then with her daughter and her family for five years and then living at Bridgeport Health Care Center in Bridgeport, WV, until her death. She was born on May 12, 1926, in Lorentz, WV. Her parents were Lula Mae (Snyder) Powers and Brooks Wilson Powers. Bonnie graduated from Weston High School, along with her late husband, Edward Arnold “Buck” Hitt. He died on January 31, 1994, after 49 years and 11 days of marriage to Bonnie. Surviving children are her daughter, Jennifer Lynn (Hitt) McHenry and her husband, David of Bridgeport, WV; her son, Richard Edward Hitt and his wife, Susan Small of Charleston, WV; grandchildren are Kristina Lynn (McHenry) Wells and her husband, Ken of Pittsburgh, PA, Justin David McHenry and his wife, Ashley of East McKeesport, PA, Jason Edward McHenry and his wife Krista of Bridgeport, WV, Allison Harper Hitt of Arkansas and Matthew Richard Hitt of Charleston, WV; two stepgranddaughters, Mariah and Molly Plante of Charleston, WV; great-grandchildren are Austin David McHenry and Ryleigh Victoria McHenry of East McKeesport, PA and Rozella Lynn Wells and Syler Joseph Wells of Pittsburgh, PA. Bonnie was GG to them and Gram to the grandchildren, whom she adored. Bonnie was a Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church of Buckhannon for 50-plus years, where she kept her membership active until she died. Bonnie’s surviving siblings are Hazel Ava Brown of Fairmont, WV, late husband Eugene, and James Allen Powers of Rockville, MD, and his wife Ann, and many nieces and nephews. Bonnie’s deceased sisters are Audrey Mae Copley Stachoviah, Lesta Virginia Alkire Flemming and Gladys Ruth Ross. Brothers deceased are Elmer Wilson Powers and Edsel (Buddy) Ford Powers. Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr., Clarksburg, on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Davis Funeral Home on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mike Hopkins, presiding. Interment will follow at Weston Masonic Cemetery in Lewis County, WV.
