Son of Andrew Floyd Skinner and Minnie Terry, husband of Myrtle Gilbert, whom he married on November 28, 1901 in Sayville, NY, and from whom he was divorced in October, 1920, and father of Adrian A. and Dorothy Skinner .

Husband of Mabel Elizabeth Coe, whom he married on September 2, 1945 at Wilmington, New Castle, Delaware.

In 1900, Alonzo Skinner, aged 19, a deck hand, was living on Pembroke Street, Bridgeport, Connecticut, rooming in the home of Mary Gaven, aged 48. Also living in the household were Ellen F. Gaven, aged 13, Mary J. Gaven, aged 23, a corset stitcher, Annie E. Gaven, aged 21, a corset stitcher, her children and stepchildren, and fellow roomers, Charles W. Smith, aged 29, a deck hand, Fanny Smith, aged 31, his uncle, Isaac F. Skinner, aged 41, an oysterman, and his brother, Clifford Skinner, aged 18, also a deck hand.

Marriage - The second wedding this week in Dr. G.W. Gilbert's family was that of his daughter, Miss Myrtle, to Capt. Lorenzo Skinner, of Sayville, which took place at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon. It was a home wedding and was performed by the Rev. J.H. Prescott, in the presence of about forty members of the two families. Miss Rosella Gilbert and Mr. Albert Skinner were bridesmaid and best man respectively, and the bride was given away by her father. She was dressed in a dark blue travelling dress and hat to match. Mr. and Mrs. Skinner will reside in Sayville.

In 1910, Alonzo Skinner, aged 29, was living in Greenport Village, Southold, NY, with his wife, Myrtle Skinner, aged 29, and children, Adrian A. Skinner, aged 7, and Dorothy Skinner, aged 4. He was shown to be a captain. Also during that census period, Alonzo Skinner, aged 19, was shown living on Foster Avenue, Islip, NY, in the home of his parents, Andrew Skinner, aged 41, and Minnie Skinner, aged 36, with siblings, Clifford Skinner, aged 18, Albert Skinner, aged 17, Fannie Skinner, aged 15, Leon Skinner, aged 8, and Vincent Skinner, aged 6. Alonzo was shown to be an oysterman.

Suffolk County News, September 1, 1911 - Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Skinner returned to their home in Greenport on Sunday, after spending a week with Mr. Skinner's parents, Captain and Mrs. Andrew F. Skinner.

In 1915, Alonzo Skinner, aged 34, was living on 5th Avenue, Southold, NY with wife, Myrtle Skinner, aged 34, and children, Adrian A. Skinner, aged 12, and Dorothy Skinner, aged 9. He was shown to be a book keeper.

On September 10, 1918, Alonzo Skinner, aged 38, stated that he resided in Hog Island, Delaware, Pa., was born on July 28, 1880, was employed as a regulator for American International in Hog Island, Delaware, Pa., and gave the name of Mrs. Myrtle Skinner of Sayville, NY, as his nearest relative, when he registered for the draft during World War I.

On April 26, 1942, Alonzo Skinner, aged 46, stated that he resided at 3265 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, Pa.; was born July 28, 1895 in Sayville, L.I.; was employed by the Pennsylvania Hospital, 4th & Market Streets, Philadelphia, Pa. and gave the name of Mabel Skinner, of the above address as his nearest relative when he registered for the draft during World War II.

Marriage - On September 2nd, 1945 at Wilmington, New Castle, Delaware, Alonzo Skinner, aged 51, widowed, of Philadelphia, Pa., employed as an assistant store keeper at the Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa., born July 28, 1894 in Sayville, NY, the son of Andrew Skinner and Minnie Terry, both of Sayville, married Mabel Coe, aged 39, divorced, of Lindenhurst, N.Y., born September 29, 1906 in Cornwall, N.Y., the daughter of William Coe, of Stony Point, N.Y., and Corabelle Cabrey, of Cornwall, N.Y. The marriage was performed by Millard S. Puid, Clergyman, of 2108 Van Buren Street, Wilmington, New Castle, De., and was witnessed by Arthur Griffin, of 1225 Tabnall (?), Wilmington, De.

Also - Alonzo Skinner, of Philadelphia, Penna., and Mabel Coe Denton of Lindenhurst, L.I. New York, were by me united in the bonds of marriage at Wilmington, New Castle Co., on the 2nd day of September in the year of our Lord Nineteen Hundred and Forty-five conformably to the ordinance of God and the Laws of the State. Obituary - Alonzo Skinner, aged 55, died on Thursday, November 16, at his home in Philadelphia, after a lingering illness.

Mr. Skinner was a son of the late Andrew Skinner and the late Mrs. Minnie Skinner Westerbeke, and spent most of his early life in Sayville.

Death Certificate - Alonzo Skinner, aged 55, married, of 3411 Race Street, Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pa., a retired maintenance man for Philadelphia Wholesale Drug, born July 28, 1895 in Long Island, N.Y., the son of Andrew Skinner and Minnie Terry, died on November 16. 1950 at his home in Philadelphia, Pa., of carcinamatosis, as certified by Dr. Morris J. Kniazer, and was buried at Chelton Hills Cemetery in Philadelphia, Pa. on November 22, 1950 by J. Wesley Craft, Funeral Director.
