Blanche V. Simpson-Ames, 90 years, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2017 in Carmel, IN. She was a lifelong resident of Parke County, Indiana.

Blanche was born December 23, 1926 in Montezuma, IN to the late Lela Leslie and David Lee Watson. Blanche had three brothers, William, David, and Robert and five sisters, Ethel, Pauline, Leora, Emma and Eleanor all of whom predeceased her.

Blanche was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker. As a member of the Rockville Christian Church, Blanche enjoyed supporting various missions and programs in the church. She volunteered at local nursing homes for many years.

Blanche married to Ralph G. Simpson on March 22, 1949. They lived on a farm outside of Montezuma, IN. Ralph passed away on January 19, 1998. They had been married 49 years. She later married LaVerne Ames on Dec. 2, 2001. He passed away on January 31, 2014.

Blanche is survived by her daughter, Jean Simpson Burns (James) of Indianapolis, IN, grandson, Jonathan Burns, his wife Kate Marshall and great-granddaughter, Genevieve “Evie” Burns, all of San Francisco, CA, two step-daughters, Wanda (Mike) Sturgeon of Florida and Dawn (Jeff) Kissell, of Indiana, step-granddaughter, Brittany Kissel and several nieces and nephews. A step-son, Ronald G. Simpson, of Austin, TX predeceased her.

A funeral service will be held at Gooch Funeral Home in Rockville, IN on Thursday, November 16, 2917. Visitation begins at 10:00 followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Montezuma, IN. Memorial contributions can be made to the Rockville Christian Church or the charity of your choice.
