Aaron Burwood O’Neal

Funeral services for Aaron Burwood O’Neal will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, November 17, 2017 in the First Baptist Church of Pine Prairie with the Revs. David Plunkett, Daniel Holsumbach, and Jacob Vollm officiating.

Committal service will follow in Friendship Cemetery of Pine Prairie under the guidance of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Aaron, 74, of Pine Prairie, entered eternal rest Saturday, November 11, 2017 in Christus St. Frances Cabrini, Alexandria. He was born on November 29, 1942 in Ville Platte to the union of Aaron M. O’Neal and Martha (Whittington) O’Neal.

He was Baptist by faith and a member of First Baptist Church in Pine Prairie. He was piano player in First Baptist in Thibodaux and Pine Prairie.
Graduated from Pine Prairie High in 1960 and attended USL where he graduated in speech and theater in 1964. He received his Master Degree at LSU and began teaching in San Marcus, Texas at Southwest Texas State. After teaching for two years he transferred to Nichols State University in Thibodaux where he taught speech and theater for forty years. While at Thibodaux he worked on his PHD at LSU. A stroke caused him to retire.
He was an avid tennis player and fan, and in countless play productions. He was a member of ALPHA PSI OMEGA, a National Theater Honor Society. He was past president of the Pine Prairie Alumni Association four times.

He is preceded in death by his father, Aaron M. O’Neal and mother, Martha (Whittington) O’Neal.

He is survived by his sister, Peggy (O’Neal) Hooper of Pine Prairie; a niece; along with many cousins, and forever students.
Friends may call Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. On Friday from 8 a.m. until time of service in the church at 10 a.m.
