NEWPORT - Carol A. (Welch) Garnett, passed away at her home on December 8, 2016, after a brief illness with her loving family by her side. She was born December 13, 1942, in Hartland, a daughter of Fred and Edna (Bean) Welch. She graduated as valedictorian from Corinna Union Academy, Class of 1962. She worked for many years at Dexter Shoe Company and later as a CNA at Eastern Maine Medical Center. She will be remembered as a kind and generous lady who gave her time and care to many. She loved to laugh, especially at herself, and taught us all to not take ourselves too seriously. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her husband of 54 years, Carleton L. Garnett; 3 daughters, Judy Garnett of Brewer, Kathy Turner and fiancé Russ Corbin of Kingston, NH, Bonny Harris and husband Michael of Newport; 2 granddaughters, Katie Wowk and Madison Harris; a brother, Anthony Welch and wife Barbara of Burke, VA; sister Dolores Welch of Dexter; many nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at a later time. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Newport or Corinna Fire Departments.
