Anthony Lawrence Allen Sr., age 86, of Athens, died Thursday at his residence. Services will be 2PM Saturday November 18, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1716 West Market Street in Athens, with Bishop David Byington, Benjamin Allen, Anthony Allen, Adam Allen, and Jim Logan officiating. Burial in Roselawn Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation is from 12:30PM until service Saturday at the church, with Spry Funeral Home directing. Mr. Allen was born October 5, 1931 in Jefferson County, Alabama. He was a Korean Conflict Army Veteran, owner and operator of North Alabama Insulation Company Inc. and served a Mission in Atlanta. He and his wife raised seven children, had a passion for learning, an avid reader, licensed Amateur Radio Operator, excellent Marksman, enjoyed fishing with grandchildren and instilled a strong work ethic to children and grandchildren. Survivors: Wife of 61 years: Dorothy Allen of Athens, Daughters: Pauline Falconbury of Athens, Thelma Temple of Landenburg, PA., Sons: Anthony L. Allen Jr. of Athens, Michael T. Allen of Athens, David W. Allen of Toney, Steven G. Allen of Hanceville, Benjamin L. Allen of Olive Branch, MS., Twenty Three Grandchildren, Nine Great-Grandchildren, Sisters: Wadealene Harris of Pensacola, FL., Paula Rubin of Grand Island, FL., Nieces and Nephews. Preceded in death by Parents: Wade Allen and LeRuth Allen Schoulin, Step-Father: Charles V. Schoulin, Brother: Charles R. Schoulin, Sister: Laberta Wilder, Grandson: Anthony Paul Allen.
Pallbearers will be Adam Allen, Michael Allen, Jacob Falconbury, Devin Falconbury, Tyler Falconbury, Austin Allen, Chris Allen, Justin Bryant. Honorary Pallbearers are Landon Falconbury, Joel Temple, Bennett Temple, Matthew Temple, Aaron Temple.
