Charleston Broker Dies Suddenly at His Home; Apoplexy Given As Cause
AT HIS OFFICE YESTERDAY
Howard Duling, aged 49, member of Duling Bros. company, merchandise brokers, former in the stock brokerage business as a member of the firm Hardy, Duling & Co., now Dana-Hardy company, died this morning about one o'clock at his home, 1548 Virginia street. His death came, as he had been down town about his business yesterday yesterday as usual, and is attributed to apoplexy. He is survived by his widow and three children.
The funeral will be held Friday at 2:30 o'clock from the home.
Mr. Duling was the son of the late Charles F. Duling, and was born on his father's farm about five miles up Elk river from Charleston. He came to Charleston when quite a young man, and with the exception of a year or two spent in Lexington, Ky., he has resided here every since.
Just before forming his business partnership with his brother here a few months ago, he was local manager for the W. E. Hutton company, of New York.
Mr. Duling is survived by his widow who was Miss Blanche Leavitt, of near Parkersburg; three daughters, Marian, aged 17, Josephine, 14, and Dorcas, 8 and the following brothers, John W. of Clifton Forge, James A. of Gilboa, Nicholas county, Walter E. and Irl L. Duling of Huntington, Orten E. of Los Angeles, Hugo B. Duling of Atlanta, Ga., and Dr. M. Stone Duling of Charleston.

Duling Funeral
The funeral of C. Howard Duling will be held at his residence Friday at 230 p. m.
The Masons will have charge of the funeral, Mr. Duling having been a member of Charleston Lodge No. 153.
Active pall bearers will be Robert E. McCabe, Clyde B. Johnson, Frank Thomas, Lon H. Kelly, R. A. Poffenburger, Leroy Allebach, T. S. Richardson.
Honorary pall bearers will be W. D. Guyer, Houston G. Young, W. D. Fontaine, C. B. Graham, James A. Bibby, T. Leslie Burdette, L. H. Harrison, Harry K. Lewis, R. G. Hubbard, Edward M. Burdette, R. E. Ruffner, W. A. MacCorkle.
