Alma Jean Monnette, age 88, of Bradley, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017 at River North of Bradley.

She was born December 30, 1928 in Bradley, the daughter of Eugene & Mary Louise Graveline Monnette.

Alma graduated from Chebanse High School and St. Mary’s School of Nursing. She retired from Presence St. Mary’s Hospital after 40 years of service. Alma had been a registered nurse and the head of the Obstetrics department.

Alma was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, painting, and traveling.
Surviving are one sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou & Laverne Hoogstraat of Bourbonnais; one sister-in-law, Judith Monnette of Linn, MO; her nieces and nephews, Geralyn Yockman, Kevin (Marge) Clabby, Michelle (Frank) Triveline, Sheri (Tim)Pettineo, Lana (Chad) Shepherd, Alan (Samantha) Hoogstraat, Beth (Jason) Smith, Amy (Mike) Pemberton, and John (Dana) Monnette; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and many great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert Monnette; one sister and brother-in-law, Eileen & Bernard Clabby; and one nephew, Mark Monnette.

Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Maternity B.V.M. Catholic Church in Bourbonnais.

Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Bourbonnais.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley or to establish a nursing scholarship at Kankakee Community College.
