LEE CHARLES GOSSETT, 79, of SHREWSBURY, passed away peacefully Monday, March 19, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Gossett was born in Madisonville, Ky., and served honorably in the U.S. Army at Fort Monmouth during World War II and has lived in Shrewsbury since 1956. He worked as a meat cutter for the Victory Market in Red Bank for 18 years. He then co-owned and operated the Village Market in Fair Haven for 16 years, a successful business he began with his wife Virginia. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his wife, Virginia Gossett, who passed away in 1989; and his parents, Lee and Sarah Gossett. He is survived by his son, Gregory Gossett and his wife Patricia of Shrewsbury; his daughter, Kathleen Oleksy and her husband Stephen of Shrewsbury; a sister, Lillian Lawrence of Kingsport, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Juliet Gossett, Christopher Gossett and his wife Margaret, Matthew Gossett, Sara Iadanza and her husband Rob, and Jon Oleksy; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. There will be a funeral service at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
