Tacoma New Tribune, Wednesday, November 20, 1918; Page n/s, Col. 6: "ONE-ARMED MAN LOSES BOTH LEGS -- Aged Employe[e] of Lumber Company Run Down by Train -- W. F. Steilberg (sic), a tallyman at the Islley Lumber Company's plant on 11th street at the Puyallup river bridge, had both legs cut off by a switching train Wednesday morning, and was rushed to the Tacoma General hospital in hope of saving his life.
"He is over 70, has but one arm, and Manager Isley says he is one of the best tallymen he ever had.
"The injured man has a wife and family, and is the father-in-law of Al White of the U. S. marshal's office."
