Amy Smith, 87, buried in Aspen Hill Cemetery
Amy Evelyn Smith of Jackson died on Oct. 5 at her son's home in Jackson of pancreatic cancer. She was 87.
Amy was born March 11, 1912, in Delta, Colo., one of the daughters of John Burton Goehring and Fanny Doughty Goehring. She spent her early years in Riverton where she was educated. She married John James Smith on Sept. 6, 1935, in Riverton. He died Dec. 26, 1978.
Amy had also lived in Thermopolis, Rock Springs and Palisades, Idaho, prior to moving to Jackson in 1954. She was a member of the Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Guild. She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and helped with municipal elections. She worked in the grade school lunch room and for many years worked for Tom Robbins at the Parkway Motel as head housekeeper.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, JoAnn Walker; one brother and three sisters.
Survivors include her son John Smith and his wife, Carole, of Jackson; her son Bill Smith and wife, Darla, of Logan, Utah; her son Craig Smith and his wife, Charmaine, of Jackson; her daughter Patsy High of South Jordan, Utah; and 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Oct. 8 at Aspen Hill Cemetery in Jackson. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Hospice of the Tetons, P.O.Box 428, Jackson, WY 83001.
