One of 15 children,'Doc" was the s/o James William Davis and Johanna Tennessee Powell. He was born in Ozark, Franklin Co., AR., one of 8 sons and 2 daughters the survived infancy and childhood.
In 1920 in Tahlequah, OK., he married Alice Lou Jane Dawes.
They were the parents of 3 girls and a son; Jewel; Pauline; Billie Joe and Veraman Thomas Davis. Supposedly they had twins but I don't know if they are named here or not.
When Doc was a young man, he attempted to hop a freight and fell. His leg was cut off.
He and Alice later divorced. I don't think either remarried.
Alice is buried in the Tahlequah Cemetery.
