James Richard "Rick" Bender 52, of Gassaway left this life and went home to be with our Lord on January 12, 2012.
He was born December 1, 1959 Braxton County. He was a loving and generous father and husband. He worked many years in the oil fields and was a carpenter/contractor and a farmer. He was a member of the Richmond Chapel Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father Joel Henry Bender.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, son James "Jimmy" Bender, son Richard H. "Henry" Bender, daughter Bonnie "Zoe Ann" Bender, son Brady Bender, son Braxton Bender, all at home, his mother Bonnie G. Brady Bender of Gassaway and sister Zoe Bender of Elkview.
Service will be at 2 pm Sunday January 15, at Richard Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Elder George Rose officiating.
Private graveside service will be in the Bender Family Cemetery, Straight Fork.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Rick Bender
Memorial Fund C/O Bank of Gassaway P.O. Box 40 Gassaway, WV 26624.
