Funeral services for Joseph O. Endsley, 61, were held Saturday morning at First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Endsley, who was a victim of cancer, had been in ill health for two years. He died Wednesday at Veteran's Hospital, Kansas City. The Rev. D. Randall Cone, church pastor, and the. Rev. Larry Moff, Overland Park, Kan., officiated. Burial was in Odessa Cemetery. Pall- bearers were: Henry Llewellyn, Robert Bozarth, J.C. Schooley, Roger Dowell, Robert Slusher and James Kennedy.
Son of William Henry and Mary Pearl Blau Endsley, he was born November 7, 1914 in Kansas City, Kan. He attended Central Elementary School, and graduated from Wyandotte High School and Kansas City, Kan., Junior College. He was inducted into the Army on February 24, 1941, at Ft. Leavenworth, Kan., and served in the Quartermaster Corps with the Ninth Army Air Force in World War II. He saw extensive duty in England and France, and suffered permanent damage to his ears from extreme cold while serving in France. He was discharged October 12, 1945, from Hoff General Hospital,Santa Barbara,Calif. He was married to Helen Shryock of Odessa, Mo. in Mobile, Ala. After his return from service, he attended classes at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, and received a degree in business administration in 1964. He was employed in the technical section of the Internal Revenue Service in Kansas City until health forced his retirement. Mr. Endsley was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Odessa and had served as church treasurer. He also was a member of the local V.F.W. Post and the Ernestine Schuman-Heink chapter of Disabled American Veterans. An avid sports fan, he was a member of the Odessa Quarterback Club, and attended many sports events at Odessa High School.
Survivors include his wife, Helen of the home; son, William Keith Endsley, Wichita, Kan.; twin daughters, Mrs. Jean Gambino, Columbia, Mo.; and Mrs. Joan Al-Hasani Justus, Moberly, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Florence Irene Mullens, Kansas City, Kan.; and three grandchildren.
