Luther "Luke" Bedortha, 81, a resident of Elma for 16 years, died Friday, May 30, 2003, in the Grays Harbor Health & Rehabilitation Center at Aberdeen.

Born May 24, 1922, at Blaine, Ore., to William Luther and Lucy Leona (Neldlinger) Bedortha, he was raised in Willamina, Ore. He had also lived in Steilacoom and Olympia. Mr. Bedortha served in the Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis from 1941 to 1945.

He had been a logger in Washington and Oregon and retired from the Dupont Co. at Dupont in 1987.

He had been married to Donna Rohr, who died in 1982.

On June 16, 1984, he married Shirley Teeple. She survives him at their home.

Mr. Bedortha enjoyed hunting, fishing and baseball.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Dennis of Elma; two daughters, Tami Davis of Ocean Shores and Sharon Fuller of McCleary; a stepson, Ken Mackenzie of Rochester; four stepdaughters, Sharon Dillon of Sedro Wooley, Karen Whitehouse of Olynpia, Charlene Cover of Sedalia, Mo., and Shirley Brock of Tumwater; a brother, Al; five sisters, Wilma Woodington, Virginia Singelton, Lee Reith, Ruth Haskell and Fay; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A brother, Jim; a sister, Alice Parker; seven half brothers and a half sister died previously.
