Mr. Marshall Ray Evans, Sr., 83, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born in Forsyth Co. on May 26, 1934 the son of the late William and Iowa Plemmons Evans. Mr. Evans was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church and attended faithfully as long as his health permitted. He retired as Vice President from Wilson Pest Control. Mr. Evans was an outstanding athlete, who enjoyed fishing and playing golf. He loved to be outside mowing and working in the yard. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife; Donna Leigh Edwards Evans, his second wife; Garlene Disher Gilley Evans, a son; William Bryon Evans, and two brothers; Arvel Evans and Alan Evans. He is survived by two sons, Darren Evans (Teresa) and Marshall Ray Evans, Jr. (Darlene); 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shelby Lawson (Delmar) and Carol West (Bill) and several nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Pastor Jonathan Ritchey and Dr. Jason Whitehurst officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 Friday evening, December 1, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
