"Worcester, Aug. 2---Pneumonia took the life of George S. Allen, 91, at his home in South Worcester at 11 this morning. Private funeral services will be held at the home at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Friends may call from Saturday morning from 9 to 11:30. Rev. William Winchell will officiate and burial will be in South Worcester. Mr. Allen, born in Fulton, Sept. 28, 1848, was the son of William and Margaret Allen. Throughout his life he was a farmer and storekeeper, and in February, 1879, he was married to Maria Hallock of Charlotteville. They took up residence in Fulton where he spent the rest of his life. He had been affiliated with both the Lutheran and Methodist churches at different times. Surviving besides his wife, are a son, Frank of Charlotteville; a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Thompson of West New York, N. J.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Mabel Vaughn of South Worcester; and a grandson, George Thompson." [The Cobleskill Index (Cobleskill, NY), August 3, 1939, Page 8]
