Kearney attended Seventh Ward School. She later married Francis Jarn Babin on July 20, 1935. She was self-employed as a custom seamstress and home décor.
She is survived by her children, Mary Teresa James, C.R. Babin, and Carolyn Ann Ivy; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 8 great great-grandchildren; and 1 great great great-grandchild.
Kearney is preceded in death by her husband, Francis Jarn Babin; her parents, Abner Levi Sholar and Allie Elmire Broussard; two sisters and 2 brothers.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Baton Rouge, LA on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at St. George Catholic Church, 7808 St. George Dr. Baton Rouge, LA from 10:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Burial will immediately follow at St. George Cemetery.
