Doris Evelyn Turbyfill, 90, of Palestine, Texas passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Palestine Regional Hospital/Hospice of East Texas in the presence of her three loving daughters. She was born in Denson Springs to Alna and Ethel Tillman on September 24, 1927.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Bedre and husband Scooter of Palestine, Susan Garrett and husband Bob of Augusta, Georgia, Debbie Nethery and husband Larry of Palestine, nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Edgar Russell Turbyfill, her brothers Elward John Tillman and Wayne Tillman and her parents. She grew up with her brothers in Slocum, and although she lost her parents at a young age, she lived a life of optimism and humor. On January 7, 1946 she married her high school sweetheart, Russell Turbyfill. The joy of her life was her family and their home and friends on Lost Prairie Lake, “with the love of our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, our only desire is to leave our love and legacy to them, who have been our greatest accomplishment.” Doris was known as “Nannie” to her grandchildren and many people who loved her. She was an avid flower gardener, dedicated homemaker, poet, and seamstress.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home and the funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at Bailey & Foster Chapel with Pastor Rodger Otero presiding. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster. Pallbearers will be her precious grandsons and family members Barry Bedre, Brannon Morton, David Garrett, Russell Garrett, Ken Leggett, Cameron Brightwell and Woody Johnson.
