Peggy Marie Ruby, 87, of Wichita Falls, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Lunn’s Chapel with Pastor Ron Barnard officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8, at Lunn’s.
A daughter of the late Minnia (Patteson) and Francis E. Harris, Peggy was born on July 10, 1930, in Mena, Arkansas. Peggy’s life with Lloyd started with a kiss, as she was the trophy girl on a night he won at the Wichita Falls Race Track…..and then became his wife for 54 years! Their lives together took them all over the country, making wonderful friends everywhere they went.
Peggy lived such a lovely Christian example for her children and grandchildren. For years she inspired a group of young girls at church called Missionettes, and was a teacher’s aide and mentor to five year olds at Cunningham Elementary. She so enjoyed making others happy by telling her cute little jokes. If she could make you smile, that brought joy to her. She was the unsung hero beside her racing husband, always dedicated to family, friends and faith…
Along with her parents, Peggy was also preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Ruby; her sisters, Mary Langford and Patty Sewell; and her brothers, Jack Harris and Billy Harris.
She is survived by her children, daughter, Mary Ann Bailey and spouse, Duane; son, John Ruby and spouse, Pam; grandchildren, Tyler, Paige, Allison, Luke and Bo; and sister, Bonnie Hoyer.
For those desiring, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, TX 76310.
