Doc was the son of Jacob Brumleve and Marguerite Kirche. About 1951 he married Alice "Mona" Abel and they had two daughters, Marlene and Susan. He was a Navy and Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a retired quality-control supervisor for the Ford Motor Co., where he worked for twenty-six years. Doc died at Jewish Hospital at the age of 77.
