William (Bill) Benson Dobson, 78, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away, Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Bell Minor Nursing home.
Bills cremated remains are planned to be interred at the Canton Georgia National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Northeast Medical Center or Bell Minor Nursing Home.
Bill was born June 10, 1939 in Algansee Township, Michigan to Alton and Virginia (Stafford) Dobson. He graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 1957 and Bachelors of Science from the University of South Florida in 1980. On July 4, 1959 he married the former Judith Ann Sironen in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Bill retired from the Navy as a Chief Warrant Officer Rank CW02 which was quite an achievement by advancing through the enlisted ranks over 22 years. Bill also retired from the post office as a mail carrier after 20 years. Bill enjoyed fishing, bowling, reading, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife Judith Dobson of Gainesville, GA and three children, Robert William Dobson and his wife Barbara of Gainesville, GA, Renee Lynne Gard and her Husband Errol of Clearwater, FL, and Robin Louise Malek and her Husband Steve of Frasier, MI. Four grandchildren: Michella 31 and Johnny 29, of Robert and Barbara Dobson Gainesville, Eric 32, of Renee and Errol Gard Clearwater, FL; Chelsea 27, of Robin and Colin Fewkes. Six great grandchildren: Cole 8
