Lynn married her beloved husband, Richard A. Fitzgerald, on August 6, 1960 in Saint Mary's Church in East Walpole. The young couple began their family and purchased their first home in Ashland to raise their children. She took an active role in her new community, running for school committee and hosting a private kindergarten for the neighborhood kids in her own home. While the school year was always busy for Lynn, she looked forward to spending her summers camping with her neighbors and spending time with her family at cookouts.
In 1971, Lynn and Dick moved their young family to East Walpole. After all her children were enrolled in school, Lynn returned to the working world, taking various positions with the Walpole Times, Tile City, and the Walpole Public Schools, as a substitute teacher. In addition, she sold real estate and delivered newspapers in the early morning hours. The extra income allowed Lynn and Dick to purchase a cottage in Hyannis, where they spent many summers.
Lynn decided she would prefer to work from home, so in 1976, she began a family day care. By 1977, the day care had grown into the Amo Et Doceo Liberi Center, a group child care center. Lynn wanted to be available to her children after school, as well as to provide other children and families with quality care and give teachers the opportunity to work in a family friendly environment. Over the years, the day care grew into a multi room center. Today the center provides services for 26 infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in Walpole and the surrounding area. Her children, and the generations of children she taught stand as a testament to the love she gave. Lynn touched the lives of many in a very positive way.
While Lynn was incredibly dedicated to her work, she most loved spending time with her family. Together, Lynn, Dick and their children took many family trips and partook in multiple sailings aboard the schooner, Nathaniel Bowditch, out of Rockport, Maine. In their later years, Lynn and Dick loved spending time together at their cottage on Cape Cod.
