Geneva Owens Bradshaw, 86, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Orchard View Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 3:00 PM in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia with Reverend David Bradshaw officiating. Her family will visit with friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Orchard View later in the week. Burial will be at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.
Geneva Owens Bradshaw was born on September 4, 1929 in Randolph County, Georgia to the late Inice S. Owens and Robert E. Owens. She was a sister to Estelle, Ezelle, Gayle, Robert, and Vida. Mrs. Geneva was a graduate of Valley High School in Valley, Alabama and married to James Olin Bradshaw in July of 1952. She was a member of Wynnton United Methodist Church and retired from Columbus State University, where she worked in the Registrar's Office. An accomplished cook, Mrs. Geneva provided amazing holiday meals for her family and friends. In recent years she lived at the Orchard View Skilled Nursing Facility, where she had many friends among the residents, caregivers, and volunteers. Her favorite past times were puzzles, worship, artwork; she was also an avid bingo player with her husband Jimmy. The family would like to especially thank all of the many caregivers and volunteers who have brought tremendous joy into Geneva's life for more than a decade. Mrs. Geneva will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves her husband of 64 years, James Olin Bradshaw, her daughter, Kimberly MacDougall and her husband, Stewart, granddaughter, Korie Elizabeth MacDougall, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends to cherish her loving memory.
