Nadine (Nads) was born March 29, 1946, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Harvey E. and Marie T. (Hemmer) Zinkel. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1964. On September 20,1969 she married Leon W. Schermetzler at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Francis Creek, Wisconsin. Nadine was a lifelong resident of Manitowoc. She was employed at Holy Family Hospital, worked at Mirro for 15 years, Wisconsin Public Service, and was a bookkeeper and teller in the banking business. She enjoyed bowling, biking, board games, video games, card games, dominoes, golf and traveling. Spending time with her family, relatives, and friends was very important to her. She enjoyed special family nights and making people laugh.
Survivors include her husband Leon; two daughters and sons-in-law: Shawn Marie and Scott Anderson, Margo Lynn and Jesse Wagner, all of Manitowoc; two grandchildren: Jennalee Schermetzler (Dean Beck), Adell, WI and Logan Anderson, Manitowoc; one sister and brother-in-law: Jacque and Rolland Tollefson, Ellensburg, Washington; one brother and sister-in-law: Terry (Donna Hall) Zinkel, Newberg, Oregon. She is further survived by four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in law: Karen Zinkel, Loganville, Georgia, Anne Schermetzler, Manitowoc, Eunice and Roger Franz, Fond du Lac, and LuAnn and Mike Kasza, London, Ontario, Canada; along with nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Nadine was preceded in death by her parents: Marie and Harvey Zinkel; two brothers: Lynnford and Jay Zinkel; her mother-in-law and father-in-law: Anna and Norbert Schermetzler, Sr.; one brother-in-law: Norbert Schermetzler, Jr.; one sister-in-law and her husband: Lily Ann and Robert Naidl; two infant brothers-in-law, James and John Schermetzler.
A Life Celebration Social for relatives and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Nadine's name.
