Worcester Telegram & Gazette (MA) - Saturday, October 16, 1999. BROCKTON - Cathryn R. "Cappy" (Estes) Convey, 65, of Brockton, formerly of Worcester, an executive assistant, died yesterday at home after a two-year struggle with cancer. She leaves her husband of 45 years, John G. Convey; two sons, Kevin R. Convey of Brockton and John F. Convey of East Weymouth; a daughter, Jennifer A. Birmingham of Easton; two sisters, Mary Jane Baronsky of Monument Beach and Ann Faucher of Worcester; five grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Fred K. and Helen (Fay) Estes, and lived five years in Wakefield. She lived 38 years in Brockton. She graduated from Commerce High School, Worcester, in 1952. She later earned a certificate from the Options Program at Katharine Gibbs School, Boston, in 1980. Mrs. Convey was once a legal secretary, and later a secretary and fashion model at Richard Healey Co., a women's clothing store in Worcester. She was later a part-time library aide at the Whitman School here from 1973 to 1980. After that, Mrs. Convey was an administrative secretary, executive secretary and then administrative assistant to the president and chief executive officer of South Weymouth Savings Bank, where she worked for 13 years. She was later an executive assistant to the president of Filterfresh Corp. in Westwood for three years, retiring in 1997. Mrs. Convey was a longtime Cub Scout and Brownie leader. She was skilled in sewing and ceramics, and an accomplished cook. She was an avid reader. The funeral will be held Monday from J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St., with a Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Margaret's Church, 950 Main St. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701; or Hospice of the South Shore, 100 Bay State Drive, Braintree, MA 02184.
