Vernon J. Parkhurst of Manhattan was 87 years of age when he peacefully passed away Monday, March 27, 2006 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brotherin-law, and beloved mother-in-law.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years Eileen Parkhurst (nee Kelley); beloved nephew, John (Ingrid) Dahlgren; four great nephews; three great nieces and 11 great great grand nieces and nephews.
Coming from Riverdale, IL Mr. Parkhurst has been a resident of Manhattan for ten years. Vernon was a loyal employee of EJ & E Railway for 35 years, owned and operated Parkhurst Florist in Roseland from 1953 to 1968, and he was a gentleman farmer.

Francis Road, New Lenox, Wednesday, March 29, 2005 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jim McGuire officiating.
