He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years Eileen Parkhurst (nee Kelley); beloved nephew, John (Ingrid) Dahlgren; four great nephews; three great nieces and 11 great great grand nieces and nephews.
Coming from Riverdale, IL Mr. Parkhurst has been a resident of Manhattan for ten years. Vernon was a loyal employee of EJ & E Railway for 35 years, owned and operated Parkhurst Florist in Roseland from 1953 to 1968, and he was a gentleman farmer.
Family will receive receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Road, New Lenox, Wednesday, March 29, 2005 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jim McGuire officiating.
