One of the Oldest of Third Ward Residents Dies
Mrs. Anna Whittlesey Oliver, Daughter of Pioneers of Rochester, Passes at 85

Mrs. Anna Whittlesey Oliver, widow of William S. Oliver, and one of the oldest residents of the old Third Ward, died yesterday at her home, 123 South Fitzhugh Street, aged 85 years.
Mrs. Oliver was born in Rochester in 1844 in the old Whittlesey homestead at 123 South Fitzhugh Street. She was the daughter of Judge Frederick Whittlesey and Ann Hinsdale Whittlesey, pioneer residents of Rochester, who came from Connecticut by packet boat on the old Erie Canal. Mr. Oliver, who was a well know Rochester lawyer, died in 1889.
For more than fifty years Mrs. Oliver was a member of the Church of the Epiphany, and was for a number of years on the board of managers of the Church Home in Mount Hope Avenue.
She leaves two sons, James O. Oliver of Montclair, N. J., and Frederick W. Oliver, Rochester attorney, and four daughters, Mrs. Norman W. Mumford of Dover, Mass., Mrs. Alvah Strong Miller, Miss Katherine H. Oliver and Miss Mary Frances Oliver of Rochester.
Funeral services will take place at the home tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. H. R. Talbot of the Church of the Epiphany officiating. Burial will be made in Mount Hope Cemetery.
