Alvin R. Allen, 77, formerly of South Roxana, died at 3:12 a.m., Monday, April 14, 1997, at Maryville Manor.
He was a welder at Clark Oil Co. for 39 years before retiring. He was a member of the WRCO Credit Union Board of Directors.
Born May 13, 1919 in Granite City, he was the son of the late Albert and Myrtle (Parker) Allen.
He married the former Frances C. Klug on Sept. 24, 1941 in Mitchell. She died June 21, 1991.
Surviving are two brothers, Clarence Allen of Ohio, and Howard and his wife, Marge Allen of Harford, S.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was loved and cared for by many.
Preceding him in death was a sister, Laura Franklin.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Wood River with Father James Neuman as celebrant.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to St. Bearnard's Catholic Church or Masses.
