Charles Richard “Dick” Alzheimer, 79, of Great Falls, Montana, passed away suddenly of a heart attack Oct. 26, 2015, with his loving wife, Judy, by his side.

Dick was born on Nov. 12, 1935 in Conrad MT to George and Mabel Alzheimer. He was raised in Brady and Great Falls; attending high school at Central and Great Falls High.. He married the love of his life, Judy Reeves, on July 21, 1955. Together they welcomed six children.

In 1954 Dick began his apprenticeship at Bennett Motors, this began a life-long career building motors and racing motors. He could work on anything! He carried his love of all things automotive to his home life, spending his free time in the garage working on many projects. He enjoyed racing, stock cars, top alcohol funny cars and NASCAR. He shared this knowledge with his son, Ron, working with him in the garage often. Dick also loved riding on his Harley and watching motorcycle racing.

The family moved to Palmer AK in 1969. Dick was employed by Alaska Sales and Service in Anchorage until 1978.

Racing was in his blood. Dick raced stock cars and top alcohol funny cars. His love of drag racing began in Palmer at the Polar Race Way. Many fond memories were built on that track and many good friends. Riding his Harley was another passion. Most of all, his family was his pride and joy.

Dick is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judy, of Great Falls, Montana; daughters, Marlas Prevo, of Winnemucca, Nevada, Lynne (Steve) Knutson of Palmer, Alaska, Diane Harrison, of Great Falls, Montana; and sons, Rick Alzheimer, of Great Falls, Montana, and Ron (Kelli) Alzheimer of Duvall, Washington; 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents & daughter Kari Sullivan. Per Dick's wishes, cremation has taken place & a family gathering to celebrate his life will take place at a later date.
