Obituary - Alvin "Al" William Eberhardt

Alvin W. Eberhardt, 92, of Laona, was welcomed home by his lord, Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Nu-Roc Community Health Care Center, Blackwell.

Al was born November 20, 1924 in Neillsville, WI the son of Richard and Martha (Callies) Eberhardt. Al proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Cp.1 Col of the 157th infantry. He was a wounded POW of World War II. Al was a member of the VFW Post #6823, Laona.

Al spent the majority of his career cooking. He as the owner of “The Hickory Way” restaurant in Milwaukee. When Al and his wife Mary moved to Laona they continued in the food service, catering weddings and special events in the area. Al also enjoyed wood crafts and recreational time with his special friends and family, fishing, hunting and playing cards.

Al is survived by his wife, Mary (Chapman) Eberhardt; daughters, Marsha (Robert) Kerber; Cheryl (Norman) Mor; Mary (Sue) Eberhardt; son, Richard (Donna) Eberhardt; foster children, Michael Chapman and Melissa (Tom) Warren; his grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews ; also other relations and many dear friends.

Al is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters, grandson, and his daughter Jacqueline Wimmer who passed away earlier this year.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the nurses and staff at Nu-Roc Community Health Care and Ministry Hospice for their care and support throughout Alvin’s time with them.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Laona with Pastor Kyle Verage officiating. Burial to follow services at Laona Cemetery with Military Rites. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to time of services at the church.
