Rose F. Aguirre, 94 of Sioux City passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 at a local care facility.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Church of the Nativity. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday with a Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Rose was born September 28, 1923 in Sioux City; she was the daughter of Pasquale and Mary (Pironaggi) DeFazio. Rose was a lifelong resident of Sioux City, working at Zenith, Johnson Biscuit Co. and the Mary Treglia Community Center while raising her 5 children by herself. She was very proud of her time spent at the Mary Treglia Community Center both as an employee and volunteer. Rose was a member of the Church of the Nativity Catholic Church.

Survivors include her 5 children: Cecelia Hart (Le Roy) of Modesto, CA, Gary Aguirre (Joyce) of Henderson, NV, John Aguirre (Herta) of Gillette, WY, Rosalie Rohlf (Mark) of Sioux City, and Patrick Aguirre (Sherry) of Des Moines, IA; 9 brothers and sisters and their families: Carmella Moore of Sioux City, Jenny “Jean” Hewitt of San Leandro, CA, Angie Crowley of Spokane, WA, Anthony “Tony” DeFazio of Sioux City, Lena Benson of Sioux City, Theresa Sorensen of Amarillo, TX, Eva Smith of Carlsbad, CA, Mary Livermore of Moville, IA and Delores Wolfe of Columbia, MO; 20 grandchildren and 65 great and great great grandchildren.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her former spouse Luciano Aguirre, and a brother Michael DeFazio.
