The sweetest female cat I have ever known and had was my beloved Sandi. We found her in late July or early August in 2009 at the Greene County fair in a horse barn along with her momma, litter mates and a friendly skunk. I loved her from the start and convinced my husband we had to take the now weaned kitten home with us. Months later, we won a drawing for a free pet sitting photo so we choose Sandi. She loved the attention. The company even used some of her pictures for their advertisements. Sandi was a sweet and loving cat. She loved her cat siblings very much, often washed their faces and played with them. She liked to lick my face in the mornings. When her ‘sister’ Amber was on her last days with cancer, Sandi spent time with her, wrapping her front paw around her big sister as a comfort. Sadly, three months after the death of her older ‘sister’ Amber, Sandi had to be put to sleep too, the cancer has taken away the use of her back legs and the tumor on her breast had grown quite large. It is hard to lose a cat seemingly so young at 8 years old, but I take comfort that we gave her a great life and some medication we gave her did extend her life by a few months. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her older cat ‘brother’ Bucky and younger cat ‘sister’ Callie Rose as well as her human parents who loved her very much.
