Helen Elizabeth Woelfel, age 92, a resident of St. Mary's at Felician Village, Manitowoc, died on Tuesday morning, August 6, 2013 at St. Mary's.

She was born on August 17, 1920 in the town of Meeme--School Hill, daughter of the late Joseph A. & Margaret (Bushman) Schad. Helen was a graduate of Kiel High School, Class of 1938. On June 1, 1943 she married Wilbert L. Woelfel at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. He preceded her in death on February 14, 2007. Helen was a member of the St. Nazianz Senior Center and also the Manitowoc Senior Center. She was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church where she belonged to the Social Action Committee, senior Friend on Aging Committee, the Christian Mothers, a parish Eucharistic minister and greeter and helped start St. Gregory's Food Pantry. Helen was a 4-H leader for years and was a member of the Catholic Social Service Board. She was also a foster parent for many years. Helen enjoyed playing cards, dancing, gardening, fishing, sewing and loved to travel having visited 48 States.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Daniel & Sue Woelfel, Denver, CO, Mark & Linda Woelfel, Lexington, KY; two daughters and a son-in-law: Susan Reindl, Manitowoc, Agnes & Lane Landon, Manitowoc; 12 grandchildren: Melissa Sandoval, Mark Woelfel, Kiko Woelfel, Matthew Woelfel, Andrew Woelfel, Nathaniel (Heather) Reindl, Nicholas Reindl, Jessica (Kevin) Strutz, Collin (John Soukup) Bernhardt, Travis (Heather) Bernhardt, Drew Landon, Emilee Landon; 16 reat grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Ann Woelfel, DePere, Alvina Wagner, Manitowoc, Veronica Wagner, Manitowoc; and a special nephew: Elmer (Barbara) Wagner, Plymouth, WI. Also surviving is her extended family: MariAnn & Lee Kirchman & family, Two Rivers, a step sister: Marilyn Zarn; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband: Wilbert Woelfel; her parents: Joseph & Margaret Schad; her in-laws: Andrew Woelfel, Bertha & Frank Wagner; and a son-in-law: Robert Reindl. She was also preceded in death by step brothers, step sisters, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and extended family members: Margie and James Neal.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2013 at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Pat Nelson with burial in the church cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz, from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until 10:45 a.m.
