Helen Virginia Drake McDowell is the wife of Cecil Clyde McDowell. They were married 10 July 1935 in Gardendale, Jefferson, Alabama. She is the daughter of Albert Burden "Pete" Drake and Ethel Chambers Drake. The paternal granddaughter of John Turner Drake and Virginia Evelyn Anderson and the maternal granddaughter of William J Chambers and Nancy Ella Shaw.

McDowell, Hellan D. age 90, of Haines City, Fl., died September 21, 2007 in Davenport, FL. due to congestive heart failure. She was born February 6, 1917 in Birmingham, AL. and moved to Haines City from there in 1998. She was retired from the Medical Center East, where she worked as a nurse, she was a member of the Lake Wales Baptist Church and Lakewood Baptist Church back in Birmingham and she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #74 of Winter Haven.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Ethel Chambers Drake; her husband, Cecil Clyde McDowell; and her 3 brothers, Clifford, Wallace, Torrence Drake; and she is survived by her daughters, Joan Marie McDowell-Moore of Riverside, CA., Beverly Joyce McDowell-Hudson of Haines City, FL.; her grandchildren, Wayne, Rita and Daryl Moore, Alan and Michael Ragsdale, Breanne Patterson and Kaitlin Ragsdale; and her great grandchildren, Bradley and Luke Patterson.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City. Burial will take place in Alabama. Condolences may be sent via www.oakridgefuneralcare.com.
