CATHERINE MUEHLBAUER
(1926 - 2014)

In loving memory of Catherine Mary Muehlbauer born on the family farm near St. Nazianz and St. Gregory's Parish to Louis and Katherine Schema on May 25, 1926. She was the youngest of 5 siblings and was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Aaron (Catherine) and Norman (Hattie), sisters: Evelyn (John Ruppel) and Dolores (Elton Jelinek), husband: Norbert R. Muehlbauer, and children: Theresa and Joseph.

She graduated from Kiel H.S., worked at the Salvatorian Seminary Publishing Department and met Norbert R. Muehlbauer at a dance during the WWII conflict. They were united after the war ended and had eleven children: Theresa (deceased at age 2), Thomas (Shirley), Paul (Pam), Joseph (deceased age 17), Mark (Eugenia), Mary, Jeffrey (Julie), Katie (Bill Watkins), Anita (Robert Evans-Young), Christina (Chris Kaiser), Cheryl (Jon Saunders). She was blessed with 21 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

With faith, courage and strength, she endured the loss of 2 children, and her beloved husband, Norbert, at a very young age. She worked as a cook at St. Gregory's Grade School, the Manitowoc County Meals on Wheels Program, the Commission on Aging and the U.S. Postal Service.

"Mom"/"Grandma" took an active part in her family and friends lives. She was a great advocate of learning through books, music, travel and conversation with everyone she met. She was the personification of tolerance, generosity and gave of herself, her time and wisdom with anyone in need.
