Rev. William J. Uffenbeck, 72, Clinton, died Friday at Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights, Illinois. Arrangements are pending with Brian Marks Funeral Home, Clinton.

The Rev. William J. Uffenbeck, age 72, of Clinton, WI, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 5, 2018. He was born May 19, 1945, in Portage, WI, the son of William G. and Marie (Allen) Uffenbeck. On June 17, 1978, he was united in the Holy Estate of Matrimony to Elaine C. Musick at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Golden, IL. Their union was blessed with three sons.

Rev. Uffenbeck received his elementary education at St. John’s Lutheran School in Portage. He graduated from Concordia High School and Junior College in Milwaukee and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia Senior College in Fort Wayne, IN. He graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO, in 1971, with the degree of Master of Divinity. During his seminary training, he spent his vicarage year at First Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, MN.

Rev. Uffenbeck was privileged to serve four congregations throughout his ministry: Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Golden, IL; St. Paul Lutheran Church, Madison, WI; St. John Lutheran Church of Ashippun, Oconomowoc, WI; and Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Clinton, from 1994 until his retirement in 2011.

Survivors include his wife Elaine and three sons: William A. (Tana) and grandson William Timothy of Schaumburg, IL; David of St. Louis; and Michael (Jade) of Wausau; two sisters: Susan (John) Nelson of Marshfield, and Mary (Stuart) Guenther of Minocqua; and wonderful nieces, nephews, in-laws, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, his mother, and his step-father, Seymour W. Wintrone.

Christian funeral services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Ev. Lutheran Church, Clinton, with the Rev. James Hendrikson officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, January 12, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church and on Saturday, January 13, from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Committal will be in Silver Lake Cemetery, Portage, WI, at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
