Born in Scranton, Arthur graduated from West Scranton High School in 2005 after which he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He served in Iraq, Okinawa and Camp Pendleton. Honorably discharged in 2009, Arthur came home to work briefly in warehousing. He then was employed as a prison guard at the Lackawanna County Jail. Arthur was involved in CrossFit, yoga and recently attended Lackawanna Junior College. He loved riding his motorcycle, spending time with family and friends and his dog, Emma.
He was loved and will be missed by his entire family.
He is survived by his mother, Theresa Heffner; father, Arthur W. McPhillips Jr.; stepmother, Lisa Thomas; grandmothers, Jean Rovinsky, Cheryl Hopkins and Darlene McPhillips; great-grandfather, Arthur McPhillips Sr.; aunts, Lorraine Healion, Lori Gogas, Elizabeth McPhillips and Elizabeth Hopkins; uncles, Chad McPhillips, Peter Gogas and Andrew Healion; four great-uncles, Keith (Linda) McPhillips, Gary (Sharon) McPhillips and Robert McPhillips; great-aunts, Lynn (James) Mackie and Kareen McPhillips; cousins, Gary (Kelly), Collin, Dylan, Kacie, Krista (Ryan); many great-cousins and their families.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave. Interment with full military honors will follow at Cathedral Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
