A lifelong Oceanside resident, Rusty Seau had attended El Camino High School in Oceanside where he played football and was attending Ocean Shores High School in Oceanside at the time of his death. He enjoyed hip-hop dancing and entered several dance contests at school, winning every one of them. Rusty was shot to death by neighborhood gang members while walking home from visiting at his aunt's house.
Funeral service took place on June 18, 2005 at Eternal Hills Mortuary, followed by burial.
