Died, at 4:30 a.m., Monday, March 30, 1914, at the family residence, South College street, Calvin M. Partlow, aged 76 years, 6 months and 22 days. Public funeral services will be held this afternoon at the residence. Decedent was born in Vermont, Canada. He lived on a farm near Burlington, Ill, from early childhood with his parents until the Civil war broke out and he joined the Eighth Illinois cavalry. Following the war, he returned to the farm and resided there until thirty years ago, when he moved to Springfield, where he resided until the time of his death. He was a member of Stephenson post, G. A. R.
Nov. 3, 1870, he married Miss Jeanette Knapp of St. Joseph, Mo., who survives him. He is also survived by one daughter, Jeanette M. Partlow, residing at home, and one brother, James Partlow of Portland, Ore. IL State Journal, Springfield, IL, 3-31-1914
From his wife's obituary: Calvin M. Partlow, was one of the first game wardens in Illinois, being appointed in the early eighties. He also was employed in the offices of Secretary of State Henry Dement and Secretary of State Isaac Pearson.
