Born on May 16, 1934, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 in Kelowna BC with her children at her side. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her three children: Joanne Rempel (Robin van de Water), Gerry Rempel (Francoise) and Audrey Rempel. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Katrina (Will), Kylie, Stefan, Justin, Lucas (Emma), Kelsey and Julia, and great granddaughter Josephine. She was predeceased by her husband Gerhard Rempel in May 2014 and her son Douglas Rempel (Lisa) in October 2003.
Kornelia was born on May 16, 1934 to Abraham and Aganetha Stobbe in Mulingar, Saskatchewan, the youngest of nine children. Kornelia grew up in Arnold BC. In Arnold she met Gerhard Rempel whom she married on June 30, 1956. Kornelia and Gerhard grew up on farms just down the road from each other, attending the same schools and church. Kornelia was an elementary school teacher, she taught in the Abbotsford area and Oliver BC. Later Kornelia became a bookkeeper working for Gerhard’s land surveying business in Oliver and West Kelowna BC and then for Stutters Disaster Kleenup in Kelowna BC.
Kornelia’s memorial service will be held on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Westside Alliance Church in West Kelowna. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation.
