Mary Jane Wilks, 70, Lawrence, died Friday, Aug 25, 1994, at a hospital here. She was born April 19, 1924, in Falls City, Neb., the daughter of Harry Edward and Elizabeth Pearl Williamson Henninger, and lived in the Lawrence area since 1940. She worked at the Mission Inn in Lawrence in 1965 and 1966 and at the F.W. Woolworth variety store from 1966 to 1973. She worked for Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity from 1973 to 1975 and was the cook for the Douglas County Sheriff's Department from 1977 to 1988 when she retired. She was married to Chester Arthur Wilks Sr. , July 14, 1945, in Wichita. He survives. A son, Chester A. Wilks, died in 1992. A granddaughter, Rebecca Catherine Wilks, died in 1984. Other survivors include two daughters, Janet Marie Ackley and Judy Ann Akins, both of Lawrence; six sons, Henry Edward Wilks, Roger Lee Wilks, John William Wilks, and Michael Leroy Wilks, all in Lawrence, James Marvin Wilks, Perry, and Loubie Anderson Wilks, Eudora, three sisters, Dorothy Reed, Oskaloosa, Lois Jean Riley, Topeka, and Carol Jolliffe, St. Francis; 26 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Warren - McElwain Mortuary in
Lawrence. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.

She was buried on August 30, 1994
